Work you'll do
- Implement processes to track successful implementation of Better Buildings processes within projects and report on maturity of sustainable real estate practices across the global portfolio
- Liaise with the DTTL Sustainability team to track and report on the annual energy efficiency improvements across the global portfolio - this will feed local escalation protocols
- Collate and report progress to the COE Leadership and DTTL SIC/ WorldClimate sub-group each quarter
- Ensure the COE Better Buildings - Refurbishments and Operations processes and templates are adopted across the region; and act as the point-of-contact across the region for all sustainable real estate related queries
- Support the implementation of tools to enable local teams to quantify the embodied carbon emissions associated with their refurbishments; support their use; and track performance improvement
- Stay aware of leading practice within the real estate industry, e.g. net zero carbon construction; zero waste construction; sustainable, ethical/local sourcing of materials; intelligent buildings; wellbeing designetc. and factor into COE Better Buildings processes/templates as appropriate
- Support annual workshops with DTTL, and local Sustainability leads and Real Estate teams to gather user feedback and use this, and their knowledge, to continually evolve the COE Better Buildings processes/templates so it remains leading practice
- Work with COE Real Estate team to follow a process to flag major lease events to responsible parties well in advance, ensuring sustainability is a key consideration when a project begins within the region
- Support performance monitoring of the regional real estate portfolio, and identify priorities for sustainable fit-outs and energy efficiency works
- Support COE Procurement to include sustainability standards into their Real Estate master category strategy, e.g. WELL/BREEAM/LEED compliant furniture standards; sustainability clauses in Total Facilities Management (TFM) and Catering contracts; minimum BREEAM/LEED standards in framework agreements etc.
- Support the DTTL WorldClimate ESG lead to ensure we are collecting all real estate data required for our external reporting including but not limited to, our global EP100 and CDP commitments
- Support COE Real Estate team on all ad-hoc sustainable real estate requests
- Work with CORE Knowledge Services to ensure all real estate teams across the region are well versed in our Better Buildings process and can articulate the business case for delivering sustainable real estate, i.e., brand value, alignment with WorldClimate and whole-life savings from investment in operational efficiencies; and are aware of good practice examples from across our network
- Support DTTL and COE leaders to advocate the long-term value of occupying net zero carbon buildings and build their, and the Sustainability Executive’s external status as climate leaders

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in either a sustainability consultancy, design role or in-house delivering sustainable real estate projects
- Direct experience of applying LEED/ BREEAM/ WELL and/or other equivalent rating tools Direct experience of undertaking embodied carbon analysis for new constructions or refurbishment projects
- Experience of project managing complex projects within the built environment from design to handover.
- A fair understanding of sustainability best practice, including green leases; LCA; embodied carbon assessments; operational energy use; circular economy principles; biophilic design etc.
Other Qualifications
- Degree in relevant sustainability, architectural or engineering subject LEED/ BREEAM/ WELL/ and/or other equivalent certified assessor Membership of relevant institution (ideally chartered), e.g., IEMA; RIBA; RICS
- Experience of monitoring buildings in operation ideal.
