Work you'll do

The incumbent is responsible to provide operational and project support ensuring that the self-managed WAN is highly available. Responsible to analyze, design, deploy, operationalize and optimize network infrastructure. Spearhead the planning and evaluation of existing network systems, technical teams and internal clients to establish new network connectivity request and assists with ongoing maintenance. Recommend and develop technical standards, lead the evaluation of new products and network problem resolutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive for results by motivating team(s) while constantly driving towards key milestones.  Maintains constant awareness of deliverables; keeps team focused on short and long term milestones
  • Drive standardization to ensure one implementation and one experience.
  • Partner with vendors and understands critical information about future technologies. Lead the production and maintenance of processes, procedures, operational and architectural documentation.
  • Accountable for execution according to established standards, procedures, and processes.
  • Own cross-functional support for development and implementation of systems.
  • Ensure WAN is always available and reliable. Own 24x365 network operation and management.
  • Ensure optimization and performance of the hardware, software and virtual infrastructure. Recommend upgrades, patches to current infrastructure, as well as capacity planning for future customer needs. 
  • Be the third level support to the Operations Groups and monitors the Service Desk system. Perform troubleshooting, fault isolation, and recovery of failed network components. 
  • Participates in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation and other maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the technology domain
  • Strong expertise in Cisco Certified Internetwork Routing and Switching
  • Senior engineering skills in three or more of the following:
  • Software Defined WAN (SD-WAN) / Secure Access Service Edge (SASE)
  • Automation, Programming/Scripting languages (Python, Ansible, etc.) & Orchestration
  • Cisco ISE, network access control and segmentation
  • Cisco Software Define Access (SDA)
  • Network Function Virtualization (NFV)
  • Expert knowledge with multi-site network protocols and physical topology, systems monitoring, including packet level analysis
  • Expert knowledge with networking features and protocols such as spanning tree, VPC, ARP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, Ether channel, 802.1Q trunking, HSRP, RADIUS/TACACS+, VPLS, VPN and MPLS
  • Advanced understanding of cyber security, cloud, compute and storage technologies.
  • Experience with InfoBlox, NetBrain, Solarwinds, Riverbed Steelhead is a plus
  • Proven track record and experience of the following in a highly complex and global organization
  • Creating repeatable, reliable, scalable network architectures, with fault tolerance, performance tuning, monitoring systems, statistics/metrics collection
  • Setting up, configuring, upgrading, managing, and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches
  • Demonstrating expertise of IT governance concepts
  • Recognizing and handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Managing support cases with external technology vendors
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail is essential.
  • Experience of agile methodology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate strategic information security topics, policies and standards as well as risk-related concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences at various hierarchical levels
  • Ability to guide a global team in a matrix environment
  • Sensitivity and cultural awareness is essential as the role will interact with resources globally 
  • Discipline and experience in recognizing and handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to travel as needed up to 25%
Preferred:
  • CCNP or CCIE certification is a plus. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience: degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or other technical degree preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred
